Two examples presented for a MouseMingle.com project.  The idea was  MouseMingle.com subscribers would wear their MouseMingle.com button while visiting any Disney theme park, Disney cruise ship, or other Disney events.  That way other MouseMingle.com participants would recognize that they were open to meeting.

I thought it would be clever to present two different voices for the project as a way of connecting with different audiences.

Cute love story:

I was standing in the que for the Haunted Mansion; when I saw her.  Our eyes met and we looked away, just to keep being drawn to each other again.  What was fun flirting turned into a couple of accidental hand touches on the railing as we passed each other; both of us just a turn away from each other in separate lines, and neither of us letting our friends in on our flirting.  I knew that I had met my true love; granted I was in 8th grade at the time, but the second our eyes met, I knew!  When I exited the attraction I looked for her, and waited as long as I could without letting my friends know why; but sadly I never saw her again.  So please wear this button so that when you are in that same situation, you’re someone, will know that they should talk to you and that you are open to future possibilities.  Wear this button like I do, for the one that got away. . .

Carnival barker style:

Afraid to talk or meet new people, but you’re hoping to meet that special someone?  The usual grocery store, local bar, work place hang outs aren’t working for you?  Step right up and let the button do the talking!  With this Mouse Mingle button say hello, please to meet you, and I would like you to look up my profile; without even opening your mouth.  Wherever you are, wherever you go, let Disney fans know they’re as welcomed as can be. . .

All I Need To Know In Life:  I learned from Walt Disney and his backyard railroad

By David Keune

Compromise is important especially when it comes to your wife’s rose garden * Always know someone like Ward Kimball; you never know what exciting things it will lead to * Let passion be your chief engineer * Always know someone like Roger Broggie; you never know what will be created from the partnership * The foundation for a legacy is important whether it is as big as Disneyland or as simple as a barn * If you name things after your wife; she will let you have more hobbies * No matter how famous someone is i.e. Salvador Dali; he will still want to play with your toys * No schooling can teach you common sense and persistence * Sometimes it is good to blow a little steam * Life is not always an oval; sometimes there is bound to be turnouts * Call everybody by their first names * Remain seated please: Permanecer sentado por favor* Take care of your parents * Just because you control the engine doesn’t mean it won’t derail * Some names are great forward and backward * Never say good-bye just see you later * There are a few key “C” words i.e. Curiosity, Confidence, Courage, and Consistency * Always take the Fair Weather Route * 13 is a lucky number * Show attention to every detail of your life * Have fun do the impossible * Family is one of the most important things in the world; a loving wife, children, or a supportive brother, family plays an important and immeasurable roll in life * There is no end to your imagination * There is definitely something to building things yourself * Smoking kills the Dreamer and the Imagination * If you make your work fun then you will never have to turn the fun off * Never forget it was all started by a train

Partners. . . . by David Keune

One of the many things that Disney Resorts worldwide has in common is their replica of the Blaine Gibson Partners statue.  We have all walked by the statue and admired it a little more each time that we see it, but do we really understand some of the meanings of the statue itself? Partnering was something that Walt Disney did very well and is very important to the success of the Disney theme parks today.

Walt not only benefited from his partnership with Mickey Mouse, but from his life partner, his wife Lillian.

Other early partners with Walt include the ‘nine old men’ and Ub Iwerks who helped revolutionize cartooning style and storytelling. One of Walt’s most important partners in business was Roger Broggie; a partner that would not only help to revolutionize the theme park industry but also the cartoon industry.

Most of us have had the pleasure of hearing some of the stories that Michael Broggie tells of his father and some of the attractions that he worked on in the early days of Disneyland as the first Imagineer. The infamous Casey Jr.’s first run, his work on the Disneyland Railroad, and of course his work on the beloved Lilly Belle engine that ran around Walt Disney’s house. Before

Disneyland and Imagineering, Roger Broggie worked with the studios on the multiplane camera. The outcome of his work on this camera helped to revolutionize the cartooning industry and how cartoons were filmed which led to the first full-length animated feature film.

Coincidentally, the same week that Roger Broggie received a window immortalizing him on Main Street U.S.A., the newest of the Disney cartoons was released, Meet the Robinsons. This is not a movie review, but I would like to add that it is worth seeing, as it includes hidden Mickey’s, Jungle Book posters, a possible portrait of Walt Disney, and a brief glimpse of 1967 Tomorrowland. However, it is the re-release of the cartoon Working For Peanuts that precedes Meet the Robinsons that pays tribute to Roger Broggie. Working For Peanuts is a Donald Duck, Chip n’ Dale cartoon filmed in 3-D in 1953 that looks just as, if not more, amazing today. So go see the movie; and the next time you visit Disneyland check out the newest window on one of the most famous streets in the world, just above the Magic Shop. You will have a greater appreciation for the man who helped make the magic come to life, and an even greater appreciation for the line on the window – *cameras* – and the influence that the Partners statue reflects today.

To Whom It May Concern:

It is with sadness that I write this letter of recommendation for Ryan Lefmann.  Ryan has worked as a member of my team since April of 2001 and this letter means that he might not be returning.  I use the term team since all of my employees work well together, each offering individual knowledge and customer service to make up the whole.  Ryan’s contribution to the team, as far as knowledge, would be his expertise and attention to detail in the areas of; marine fish, corals, invertebrate, tropical plants, tropical fish and reptiles.  His volunteer experience at Wetlands and Wildlife Care Center in Huntington Beach has been a considerable help in treating and preventing various problems in animals before they become serious issues.  Ryan’s positive attitude and self-motivation encourages his fellow team workers into caring for the appearance of the store.

We also offer aquarium maintenance for our customers at Sand Bar.  Ryan has consistently proven himself in the quality of work that he offers his maintenance clients.  This quality is seen in the repeat clientele that Ryan has established.  I have not received any calls from his clients in regards to; poor service, tardiness, accidents, or poor attitude.  I do get calls alerting me to the expedient manner in which Ryan returns client and perspective client’s calls and the expedient manner in which he schedules clients.  I leave the scheduling part of the maintenance business between the client and my employees.

Outside of the shop I know that Ryan is a well-mannered and polite individual whom I have personally witnessed at several company gatherings I host each year.  I look for employees that are goal oriented whether it is school or career related.  Ryan has shown that school is a high priority for him and I know that he seeks a career in the veterinarian field in the future.

I hope that this helps in your decision of enrolling Ryan.  I admit that he will be truly missed by us, but he will be an excellent asset to your program and that his entrance will help him continue his pursuit toward his lifelong goal.

Thank you,

Mark Pells

Owner/President

Marine Fish

At Sand Bar Pet Shop quality is one of our most important goals; however, sustainability is second to none.  The owners of Sand Bar hand pick the healthiest of fish, invertebrates, and corals and have hired the most experienced and knowledgeable staff to ensure continued success for hobbyist.

With global demand increasing on marine fish and invertebrates not only in the hobby, but also as a food source, Sand Bar counters this demand by purchasing from a sustainable alternative choice.  These sustainable fish are farm raised with little to zero impact on the environment.  Though the fish may cost a little more, it ensures survival of the industry and the future of the world’s oceans.

Tropical Fish

With thousands of fish available from the world’s lakes and rivers, it would be impossible to carry them all.  We at Sand Bar Pet Shop will try to look for the special fish you are in search of for your aquarium.  We have a wide selection available for purchase, but we understand that sometimes it is the unique, fish that makes a particular hobbyist aquarium enjoyable.  We cannot guarantee that it will be available due to weather, flight cancellations, seasons etc., however we will be happy to look for it and let you know when it becomes available.

To whom it may concern,

I am Eric Perry one of the owners of The Sand Bar Pet Shop in Mission Viejo and it is bittersweet that I write this letter of recommendation for Hailey Bond.  We are a small family owned pet store that has been around for over 40 years and we specialize in aquatic animals as well as reptiles.  My wife and I are only the second owners and we have had the privilege of hiring some great and unfortunately not so great employees in the time that we have owned the shop.

Hailey truly fell under one of the great employees that we have hired.  Her strong work ethic and fantastic customer service was such a valuable asset to our company.  Hailey accepted any challenge that was put upon her and consistently did a great job whether it was cleaning the aquariums every week, or closing the store every shift she worked.  I could always count on her that her work would be finished and correctly.  Though it was a relatively short time that she was with Sand Bar, she was appreciated by customers and her fellow employees while she was here.

Whether she is working for a large aquarium or a small family run business, I am sure she will be a valuable asset to your business as well.

Sincerely,

Eric Perry Owner of The Sand Bar Pet Shop

We the People. . .

My Father saw the shores of Iwo Jima,

My Uncle the forest of Vietnam,

A brother the sand of Kuwait.

When they were shot they did not bleed

White, black, red, or yellow,

They bled Red, White, and Blue,

They are We the People. . .

I saw the grassy knoll,

I also ‘Have a Dream’,

I have seen what happens

To a dream deferred.

I cheered when the space shuttle flew,

And cried when the shuttle exploded,

They died for We the People. . .

Our fore fathers were simple farmers

With great vision,

Christopher Columbus was a sailor

With great vision,

Native Americans were simple people

With great vision

They started We the People. . .

My family likes to go to

Baseball games on weekends,

We visit Disneyland

Often throughout the year.

We go, since Bin Laden says that

They represent capitalism.

Celebrated together by We the People. . .

We read the U.S. Constitution,

We study the Declaration of Independence,

Only to discover a few simple things;

That We are all connected by the same

Documents, by the same inalienable rights,

Three simple words telling us that We are. . .

We the People
